Wireframes

A wireframe is a diagram that shows the components and features of a web page. Wireframes are developed during project planning with web designers and web application developers.

Wikipedia says: A website wireframe is a basic visual guide used in web design to suggest the layout of fundamental elements in the interface. Because of this they are often completed before any artwork is developed. They provide a visual reference to structure each page. Wireframes also allow for the development of variations of a layout. This is an important part of the development stage because it helps to develop an awareness of the site.
